Lydia's Letter
We have read the letter that Lydia sent to Mrs. Forster, and the contents put me in no better mood. This whole thing was supposed to be a surprise to us, for she believed we would find it funny when really, we find it the complete opposite. Lydia confessed how she loves Wickham, and how she cannot wait to write her name as "Lydia Wickham". Although that does sound very nice, she has made a huge mistake because both of them have no money. My other daughters are worried sick about Lydia, and Elizabeth couldn't be more disappointed in the thoughtless Lydia. What are we every going to do?

Mother, isn't this what you have desired all along? For one of your daughters to marry? I understand the reasons for your concerns and I am in no way belittling them. Lydia will come home soon and when she arrives we can hear from her the entire story. Lydia is only 16 and has quite a lot of learning to still do; she'll learn from her decisions one day. Lets all hope that the day will come shortly!
ReplyDeleteAll that is left to hope for is that father brings her home safely. Plus it would be great for you if one of your daughters come home married. That way maybe you wouldn't force Mr. Bingley on me anymore because it is to hard for me. Lets pray that they don't take into foolish actions.
ReplyDeleteI swear that girl s one of the most foolish girls I have ever met. When will she learn? He is probably one of the most ill fit men for her to marry, but oh well. I suppose I always knew she would stoop to that level.
ReplyDeleteMother, I can honestly say, given by your rude and insistent behavior, that your only goal in life seems to be dumping your daughters off on the first men you see. Let us take our time in choosing our men. You don't need to be forcing us on anybody. Look how well that turned out for Jane (sorry Jane)....
ReplyDeleteWell it was her choice so we can't do much about it. She might know what she's doing. We must let her make her own mistakes. Everything is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteMother,
ReplyDeleteI understand how you feel because our whole family is quite shocked. I cannot believe how irresponsible she has become. Lizzie and I really regret not telling the whole family about Wickham which would probably have prevented this from happening, but we had no idea. I am also very suprised that she would not tell us, because she knows how bad you want us to be married. I know things will turn around, we can only pray Lydia is well.

ReplyDeleteLittle does everyone know that I am the reason they will get married. I payed Wickham to ensure a happy marriage with Lydia. I did this because I love Lizzy and I think it will make up for when I broke up Bingley and Jane. This is my comeback.
I believe this is completely your fault. Had you been less silly and raised your daughter better, she would've reconized who Wickham really is, and then would have not gotten married. However, I do believe that everything will work out in the end, so do not fret too much; you have 4 other daughters to make right.
