Proposal
It appears to me that the lovely Mr. Darcy has proposed to my Elizabeth. But, of course, Lizzy has refused due to the lack of character Mr. Darcy had portrayed while proposing. If only Lizzy looked at the big picture and didn't constantly think about love, she would be happily married right now, and she would be at the top of the social class. Who will ever teach her to behave like a normal woman?
Yes Mother, it is true. Mr.Darcy has indeed proposed to me, but I refused to accept his hand in marriage, for he is the last man on earth whom I would ever want to marry. What big picture? Mother, there is no bigger picture. Me and you are two different people, social class and such do not mean much to me. For me to be happily married, I must first fall in love.
ReplyDeleteMrs. Bennet, I would like to say that I fully understand why Lizzy declined my proposal. She wants to marry for love, she doesn't want to marry with out it and she does not like me for what I have done. For I separated her dear sister, Jane and my friend Mr. Bingely. If she were to ever have a change of heart I will gladly be with her, but for now lets all just get to know each other more.
ReplyDeleteMrs. Bennet I agree with you, but it is ultimately Elizabeth's decision and she wants to marry for love. She is fine without being at the top of the social class and I think because she acts different from a normal woman is why I am so attached to her. She will never get the "big picture" so I guess I am just going to have to make her love me.
ReplyDeleteDarcy.
You are absolutely right for once in your life, Mrs. Bennet. Why is it, however, that you raised your daughter in this manner? It is one of the reasons that I was drawn to her, but now it is a reason that has separated us. Her constant judgement was the reason we are not together now, but more importantly, it is the reason I now bear an injured pride. As her mother, it is your fault she turned out this way; consequently, it is your fault that my pride is now suffering in the way it is.
ReplyDeletemy dear mes Bennet. you cannot think of how silly your daughter is, but instead of how uneducated and stupid. mr. Darcy deserves someone like me who is educated and refined. your daughter will find sepeone. or not.
